Wether it’ll be any good? I don’t know but ambitios it sure is, so even if it’s rubbish, it’s still in Top Gear style.

Not really surprising, as he has been presenting some compilation shows recently. Good driver, but not sure what he will bring in terms of reviewing cars on TV.. I can certainly see a lot of “american” jokes coming.

I honestly hope that I am wrong, but...

I think they have realised the tremendous following TopGear (UK) had in the States (I’d prefer not to mention TopGear US; don’t know it much but didn’t like what I saw) and want to reinforce that by bringing in a face the American public can relate to.

It does not seem to take into account that one of the star qualities of TopGear was its unique brand of British zaniness or whimsy. That’s why Sabine would probably be fine (she’s resolutely “foreign”; besides, we know she’s great), but an American co-host may not.

I understand Mr LeBlanc is a car enthusiast and fine driver. But right now I just don’t see their “let’s make the show more American” working. Maybe the scriptwriters can introduce a funny leit-motiv of US v UK language and mores but I feel skeptical.

I’ll give it a shot and TRY to keep an open mind, but something about Evans just doesn’t say “car guy” to me.
